Project Rwanda Coffee Bike – CYC Photon Conversion (Part 2)

With the hard part out of the way Project Rwanda Coffee Bike – CYC Photon Conversion (Part 1), the remaining pieces include pannier rails, a new rear deck, and figuring out a better seat pad for the bike.

I started out with ordering 2 x 16mm x 1000mm carbon fiber tubes, some rubber endcaps, and some stainless-steel pipe clamps. Stainless Steel M10 bolts, aluminum spacers, and some seat cushions were also ordered.

Testing wood deck, and carbon fiber pannier rails

I’m waiting to try out a different set of wood rails for the side of the bike. Still need to source plywood I can find in small strips shorter than a meter. The aluminum spacers will offset the wood deck 1cm, as well as the side rails, giving bags and cargo more space away from the tires.

I will update this article once I have the spacers and side rails installed.
